Sir,
Your letter of the 24th inst has been received, informing me that to meet Paymaster Ingersoll’s requisition of the 20th inst, you had on that day drawn on the Honorable Secretary of the Navy for $18,000 under the following head of appropriations viz.:
Navy Yard Norfolk $10,000
Hospital Norfolk $4000
Magazine Norfolk $2500
Contingent Y & D $2000
$18,000
