Before coming to Norfolk, Bishop Dunn began his career as pastor of various churches in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and Illinois.  From 1925 until his death in 1942, Bishop Dunn served as pastor of the First Church of Christ Holiness on Princess Anne Road. In addition to his responsibilities as pastor, he was appointed head the eastern diocese of the Church of Christ Holiness in 1936. This diocese encompassed 15 states, from New York to North Carolina. He was married to Irene Dunn. They had one son, Albert. In 1943, his former congregation erected a white stone monument in his honor at Calvary Cemetery.
