Dr. Alphonso N. Land

(September 29th, 1896 - April 28th, 1935)

Dr. Land was born in Norfolk, the son of Walter H. Land, a prominent attorney. He was educated in the Norfolk Public School system and went on to attend the Academy and College of Arts and Science at Howard University, and then Howard Dental College. In 1921, he opened a dental office in Norfolk, where he practiced until his untimely death in 1935. Other family members interred at Calvary include Branch (died 1950), Walter (died 1964), and Melsie (1869-1940).
