Dr. Trigg was born in Lynchburg, Virginia to Frank and Ellen Trigg, the parents of eleven children. In 1904, he completed his medical work at Boston University. In 1905, he began practicing medicine in Norfolk. He retired in 1960. His 55 year career began in the days of doctors visiting the homes of their patients on horseback and ended in the era of modern medicine. He was a member of numerous professional medical associations and was an expert in the treatment of chest diseases, particularly tuberculosis. A distinctive piece of medical advice from Dr. Trigg was: “A man is a fool to drink liquor before he is forty and a fool not to drink it after he is forty.”

Dr. Trigg possessed an outstanding record of public service. He devoted himself to a broad range of charitable endeavors, including the operation of a free clinic in Norfolk and the provision of free medical services to the Lekie’s Old Folk’s Home. He was the recipient of numerous awards, including a presidential commendation for his work with local draft boards during World War II, and by Governor John S. Battle for his services to the State of Virginia. He was married to Norfolk native Beulah T. Trigg.
