Rev. Dr. Thomas Euric Sears

Rev. Sears was born in Norfolk, the ninth of fifteen children born to William Harvey and Eunice Mears Sears. Raised in Norfolk, Rev Sears graduated from the public school system and went on to earn a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees ranging from law to theology. He attended Virginia State College, Savannah State University, the John Marshall School of Law, and the Interdenominational Theological Center.

He had a distinguished 21 year military career. As a US Army aviator, he received numerous awards and decorations, most notably: The Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, The Air Medal, The Army Commendation Medal, and the bronze star. He attained the rating of Master Army Aviator and logged over 7,000 hours of flying time. He served as the pastor of the Baptist Church in Midway, Georgia. However, he considered his home church to be First Baptist Church on Bute Street. He was married to Onnye Jean Sears. They had a daughter, Leah Sears-Collins, and two sons, William Thomas and Michael Euric.
