S. P. DeMuth

S.P. DeMuth was born on June 5, 1840 in Frederick County, Md..  DeMuth studied to be a carpenter and contractor.  At age 15 he left for Baltimore where he went into business for himself and over the next thirty years helped to build many of the largest structures in that city.  He later moved to Ashland, Va. where he was responsible for the River View Stock Farm.  He moved to Berkley in 1897where he continued working as a contractor.  He was one of the most well respected builders in the Norfolk County area.  DeMuth died in 1902.
