The Gosport Shipyard founded in 1767 is now called the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Naval Shipyard Museum covers over 250 years history, including the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil war in Portsmouth and the shipyard. Many historic ships including the CHESAPEAKE, the CSS VIRGINIA , the TEXAS; and the world’s first aircraft carrier, the LANGLE were built or refitted at this shipyard.

(Closed on Mondays).
