Commandant Jesse Wilkinson Letter 14 July 1845
U.S. Navy Yard
Gosport 14th July 1845
Sir,
In compliance with a letter from the Bureau of Ordinance & Hyd:, dated the 5th instant, I have had the Hospital grounds, examined, and the site deemed the most eligible and affording the greatest distance, is estimated by Mr. Marshall to cost about $100. The plan proposed would be send six select ask men, with a few others to clear away the rubbish, and to be under the superintendence of Mr. Marshall.
I am Very Respectfully,
your obedient servant,
Wilkinson
