Joseph Smith Letter 2 February 1849

Bureau of Yards & Docks
2 February 1849

Commodore,
The amount allotted to “Quay Wall &c”. should have been $31,000 instead of $36,000 as stated in my letter of the 28 June last.
The Shell House is embraced in the amount granted for “Magazine” and should be charged to that appropriation, and not to “Improvements of Navy Yard”.
Our accounts show the expenditure of Materials for “Repairs of all Kinds” to be $22,170: 43 instead of $22,080: 43, and for “Repair to Hospital” $1193: 29 instead of $1064: 39 up to the 31st December.
This difference is caused by slight errors which have, from time to time been corrected.

Respectfully,
your obd’t serv’t,
Jos Smith
Chief of Bureau

Comm. J. D. Sloat
Norfolk
