Commandant John D Sloat Letter 25 November 1850

Commandants Office
Navy Yard Gosport
25th November 1850

Sir,
I should be pleased to receive the plan of the Magazine referred to in your unofficial letter of the fourth inst before the 12th proxies, if you do not approve the plan sent by me as I shall leave on that day for Washington on duty as a member of the Court Marshal to connive there on 16th December. It is important I should have it so as to locate the building before leaving; for it is probable I shall be absent from my command a considerable length of time.

I am Respectfully, Sir
your obedient servant,
John D Sloat
Commandant

Comm Joseph Smith
Chief of the Burrow of Yards & Docks
Washington
