Joseph Smith Letter 24 January 1854

Captain,

Your letter of the 18th instant, with its enclosure, was duly received and submitted to the Secretary of the Navy, who directs, that the Wilson land referred to, be purchased as recommended by you, at not exceeding the sum ($500) asked for it.

The Secretary desires also that you furnish to one of the Representatives from the district, the necessary information and request him to obtain a bill from the Legislature, granting jurisdiction over all the property purchased from Hatton, including the Wilson lot, including all the grounds embraced in the plans.

You will also furnish the Delegate with a copy of the plan of the Hospital ground sent to this Bureau to include the roads, requesting his earliest action in the matter.

You will further inform him, that the Secretary of the Navy on the 28 January 1853, addressed Governor Johnson on the subject, sending him a plan &c. and requested him to submit the case to the Legislature for its action.
