Joseph Smith Letter 2 June 1854
Bureau of Yards & Docks
2nd June 1854
Captain,
Whatever is necessary to be done to the Magazine at Fort Norfolk, is to be charged to “Magazine Norfolk”, not to “Improvement of Navy Yard”, for Magazine at Fort Norfolk, there being no more funds available under this head. Bills for Materials should be made out under the specific head “Magazine Norfolk” and the same should be observed in reference to labor on the pay rolls.
Respectfully,
yr obt svt,
Jos Smith
Capt. Saml. L. Breese
