Calvin Brown Letter 27 January 1855
Civil Engineers Office
Navy Yard Gosport
January 27th 1855
Sir,
In accordance with your direction I herewith submit a new design for the Keepers House at the new Magazine with an estimate of the probable cost of completing it, exclusive of the materials now on hand required for the original design of this building and the labor already done upon it.
It is to be remarked that the estimated cost does not exceed the amount estimated to finish the old design but by $274.73 which its convenience and appearance are much more to be desired.
As it has been considered possible that this work might be completed by contract, the specifications have been made with reference to such a method for its execution.
Very Respectfully,
your obedient servant,
Calvin Brown
Civil Engineer
Capt. Sam. L. Breese
Comm. Navy Yard Gosport
Referred to the Bureau of Yards & Docks by
your obedient servant,
Samual L. Breese
