Sir,
I enclose herewith, the “Monthly Report of Expenditures, on different objects of Improvements, & Repairs”; for the month of April: from which, it will be seen, that the there is a balance to the credit of this Yard, on all objects of $51,863.26, Viz;
Navy Yard Improvements, $8360.32
Hospital, $5284.54
Magazine, $38,218.40
Total $51,863.26
Should the transfer be made, which is alluded to in the Bureaus letter of the 8th inst. The account will stand as follows viz.;
Navy Yard Improvements $8360. 32+ $23,832.82 transferred
$32,193.14
Magazine, $14,385.58
Hospital $5284.54
Total $51,863.26
In obedience to your order, I have suspended all work of Improvements, “except that required to prepare the Boiler Shop for making boilers & that on the Foundry”.
Enclosed is the summary of bills &c&c. for the month of April.
