Your letter of the 10th inst with its enclosure has been received.
The amount on hand under the head of “Magazine” was on the 1st December, as follows. In the treasury $54,924.04
In the hand of the Navy agent and purser about 4038.82
$58,962.86
The account of the N. Agent have not been settled at the auditor’s office since the 2d quarter of 1858, but the above statement is believed to be very nearly correct.
The accounts for “Improvement of Yard” and “Hospital” agree pretty nearly with your Report.
