William N. Jeffers Letter 13 March 1875

Commodore T. H. Stevens
Commandant

Sir:
The Bureau approved plans of receiving house and quarters for Ordnance men at Craney Island enclosed in the letter of Civil Engineer Asserson of March 11, and directs that the construction be at once proceeded with.
As however the quarters will phase the west the hall should be on the north side, as this makes the living and sleeping rooms cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

Respectfully,
Wm N. Jeffers
Chief of the Bureau
