5th Regiment Virginia Militia

Brigade Orders,
Head Quarters, Feby. 13th, 1813. 

 Countersign. 

 Parole. As the state troops called into actual service are subject to the rules and regulations prescribed by the articles of war for the government of the armies of the United States the officers commanding Regiment are enjoined to cause these articles to be read at the head of the respective companies at the morning parade each Sunday. 

 The orders of the 11th instant directing the Officers commanding posts “to send the Brigade Inspector (by twelve o'clock yesterday) a list of the companies of the officers under the command that he may ascertain dates and Rank having been so far compiled with by Col. Freeman as relates to the officers of the United States Army, the same order is now repeated as relates to the officers of the state troops to be reported tomorrow. 

 The Commanders of Posts are directed to inquire if there be any person in the corps who is a competent practical surveyer and report his name. Commanders of corps will direct their adjutant to repair to the Brigade Inspectors Quarters (which for the present are held at head Quarters) at 12 o'clock every day to receive orders. 

 Capt. Gamble will hold his troops in rediness to march with the Commander in chief at half past nine o'clock tomorrow morning with one day’s rations for man and horse.
