5th Regiment Virginia Militia

Headquarters, March 7, 1813. 

 Brigade Orders. 

 The actual state of things is such as to acquire the most activity and attention of the whole army and the General expects that every individual will be animated by a desire to evince his zeal in the cause of his country. He has perceived with great regret in several instances a want of punctualty and attention to duty which the public services inpreviously require, shall not be indulged in and he will be contained to notice it, should any future instant occur, no furloughs are be granted till further orders without the special consent of the Brigadier in written application made to him through the adjuntants of Regiments at their orderly here. The fatigue parties already ordered are to be continued tomorrow the weather permitting.
