5th Regiment Virginia Militia

March 24, 1813

Copies for the organization regulations Virginia, of the regiment under the command of Col. A. T. Mason at Norfolk. 

General Orders.
Adjunct Generals Office, Richmond,
March 24, 1813. 

In compliance with a requisition made on the executive authority of the state, by an officer of the United States stationed at Norfolk, and regularly authorized to make such requisition. The following portions of the militia installed for service under the General Order of the 19th of April, are directed to take the field within three days from the delivery of these orders, to the commanding officers of the respective corps, and march to Richmond established as the general rendezvous viz.: 

The whole of the Infantry of the line, light Infantry and Riflemen; detached from the 47th and 88th Regiment Albemarle.
from 3rd Regiment Orange.
From 82nd Regiment Madison.
From 5th and 34th Culpepper.
From 44th and 85th Fauquier.
From 56th and 57th Loudoun.
From 67th Berkley.
From 55th Jefferson.
31st regiment only Frederick.
13th regiment only Shenandoah. 

Together with the following Calvary and artillery:
Capt. Garr’s troop of Calvary Albemarle.
Capt. Norris's troop of Calvary Buckingham.
Capt. Wilkinson's company of artillery Loudoun.
Capt. Wilson's company of artillery, Berkley.
Capt. Richardson's company of artillery Charlotte.
Capt. Collands company of artillery Pittsylvania.

Col. Henry Beatty from the 31st regiment, Frederick.
Col. Nemered Bramham Regiment Albemarle.
Col. Armstead T. Mason 57th Loudoun.
Maj. Andrew Naggener Jr. 67th Berkley.
Maj. John Edmonds 44th Fauquier.
Maj. Robert Hill 82nd madison.
Maj. Stapleton Crutchfield 16th Spotsylvania.
Maj. John Conner 34th Culpepper.
Maj. Philip Miller 13th Shenandoah.
Maj. James Faulkner of Artillery. Berkley. 

Commandants of Regimens will be governed by the 43rd section of militia law in providing the necessary camp equipage as well as for its transportation, captains of companies on the march, will proceed the usual supplies of rations, forage etc. taking care to procure correct vouchers which may be reduced to a regular abstract on their arrival at the general rendezvous. Improvements as authorized by law are to be resorted to, where supply cannot be obtained by contract. Each detachment must be completely armed with the best public arms in their respective counties; and the commanding officer will report himself to the commander in Chief the moment of his arrival at Richmond. Tents and knapsacks will be furnished at this place.
